A bit more about YourBioGuide

I have a PhD in a biological science, did research for several years, and have spent the last 20 years working for companies in the life science space.

It's become apparent through conversation with friends, family and acquaintances that most people have pretty limited knowledge of how biological research and bio businesses effect their lives.

I'd like the "average" person to know more about biology related topics. That being said, this blog is going to be written somewhat from a least common denominator approach, with links to sources that can be utilized if someone want to learn more. If you happen to stumble across this blog, and you have a more advanced knowledge of biological science, bio related business issues, or social/ethical issues, please feel free to comment. Please just keep in mind that the purpose of this blog is education, not flaming debate.

Thanks!

What's this all about?

For many if not most people the latest technology related to mobile phones, games, home networking or social networks is the big attention getter. That makes sense, as all of those types of technology releases have a tangible impact on our daily life, and they also make the news - as well take up a fair share of advertising.

Less noticeable to most, and probably a bit more mysterious, are technical advances in the world of the biological sciences. While a bit behind the scenes for most, advances in biology and biotechnology have as profound an impact on our lives.

YourBioGuide will be bringing you news and commentary on how biological research works, how advances effect our health, the impact biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies and other bio based companies on our economy, and ethical issues related to biological research.
